Apple Crunch


For my hands-on classes, the SproutChefs make individual-sized recipes. Below I have two recipes for apple crunch. The first one is for the family-sized apple crunch and the second one is for an individual serving. For this online class, I will teach the family-sized recipe.

Grocery list

  • 6 apples

  • Sugar

  • flour

  • Rolled oats

  • Brown sugar

  • Cinnamon

  • 2 sticks of butter

  • Cooking spray

Equipment Needed



Family Sized Apple Crunch Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 6 large apples, pealed and cut with the apple peeler/corer/slicer or have the sous-chef cut up by hand


  • 3 Tablespoons white sugar

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 cup rolled oats

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1 cup butter

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Peal and cut apples.

  3. In a large bowl, gently toss together apples and white sugar; set aside.

  4. In a separate large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar and cinnamon.

  5. Cut butter into flour and oat mixture with the pastry cutter or two knives, until crumbly.

  6. Sprinkle half of mixture into the bottom of a 9”x9” pan.

  7. Cover with apples.

  8. Sprinkle remaining crumble mixture over the apples.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until fruit is bubbly and topping is golden brown.

Option: Serve hot with ice cream.


Individual Apple Crunch Recipe 

Ingredients:

  • 1 large apple, pealed and cut into small pieces

  • 2 teaspoons white sugar

  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup rolled oats

  • 1/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 cup butter

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. In a bowl, gently toss together apples and white sugar; set aside.

3. In a separate large bowl, combine flour, oats, brown sugar and

cinnamon.

4. Cut butter into flour and oat mixture, until crumbly.

5. Sprinkle half of mixture into the bottom of a 6" pie pan.

6. Cover with apples.

7. Sprinkle remaining crumble mixture over the apples.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes, or until fruit is

bubbly and topping is golden brown.

Option: Serve hot with ice cream.
