If you liked the little key lime pie, here is the recipe for a large pie. The individual-sized pie follows.
Family-Sized Key Lime Pie
Crust Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs (27 squares)
1/3 cup granulated sugar
6 tablespoons melted butter
Pie Filling Ingredients:
28 oz. sweetened condensed milk
1/4 cup sour cream
1/3 cup of sugar
3/4 cup lime juice (approximately 5 large limes)
1 tablespoon of lime zest
Whipped Cream Topping
1 cup heavy whipping cream
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions for Crust:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F
Put graham crackers into a Ziplock and use a rolling pin to crush the crackers into crumbs. (or put in a blender or food processor)
Add sugar to the crumbs and dump the mixture into a 8" pie pan.
Mix the melted butter into the the crumb and sugar mixture with your hands.
Press the mixture into the pan. Bake for 7 minutes. Cool for 30 minutes.
Directions for Pie Filling:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk together sweetened condensed milk, sour cream, lime juice and lime zest in a bowl.
Pour into the baked crust.
Bake for 10 minutes and cool completely.
Chill for at least for at least 3 hours before adding the topping.
Directions for Whipped Cream Topping:
Beat heavy cream until peaks form.
Add sugar and vanilla.
Pipe or spread on top of chilled pie.
Garnish with lime slices and/or lime zest and serve.
