Cooking classes for kids
Spring/Summer 2025 Classes
To sign up for a class, click on the links below to register through Darien Parks and Rec. Each session of classes will focus on seasonal ingredients, holidays, current trends, and the class’s particular interests. All classes are hands-on.

We are happy to be offering new classes this season, as well as the old favorites. Most classes and events will be held at the Weed Beach Paddle Hut in Darien, unless otherwise indicated. All supplies and ingredients are provided. Ages 5-12 work together, unless otherwise indicated.
April Spring Break Camp
Mon. - Fri., April 14-18, 10 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. each day
On the first day of camp, the Sprout Chefs will make their own pasta from scratch and create a tomato sauce using fresh, seasonal ingredients. They eat the lunch they create together, around one big table. At the end of class, they discuss what they liked and what they would change. The day ends by planning for the next day’s meal. Each camp is different depending on the group’s interests and abilities. It is hands-on, community building, and a lot of fun.

Preschooler’s Adult and Me Spring Cup Cake Decorating

It’s a springtime celebration to welcome back the flowers and the newborn animals. Chef Lisa will tell spring stories to inspire cake decorating ideas. Everything will be provided like PEEPS® chicks & bunnies, candy eggs and flowers for the children and their adults.

Kickoff the Summer by Decorating an Ocean-Themed Cake
Summer is coming. Come hear stories about the fairies of the sea. Afterwards, the young chefs and their adults will design an ocean-themed cake. All supplies provided.

Summer’s Last Fling Cooking Camp for Kids
Monday - Friday, August 18 -22, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
This camp is designed to enjoy the last week of summer and prepare for a great new 2025-6 school year. The Sprout Chefs will spend the week experimenting with new ways to make healthy food taste even better. Every lunch will be followed by a handmade dessert as well. The first class is planned, but the young chefs will work with Chef Lisa to make what interests them and keeps them healthy. A part of each day will be spent playfully exercising on the beach.
Ages: This is for kids getting ready to enter kindergarten through the 5th grade.
